Jori Nelson, Prairie Village City Council, Ward One

My name is Jori Nelson.  I attended Briarwood Elementary, Meadowbrook Junior High, and graduated from Shawnee Mission East.  I have two children that were born and raised in Prairie Village, Ean, 24 and Audrey, 21.  I'm a third grade public school teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District. I served for eight years on the Prairie Village Homes Association before being elected to be your City Council representative in 2014. 

Accomplishments:

Elected Council President, April 2017

Maintained conservative fiscal budget and AAA bond rating

Expanded and improved parks including Meadowbrook Park

Advocated for a new park at 67th and Roe

Expanded Exterior Grant Program to now include our Ward

Implemented remote participation Council Policy 

Initiated Prairie Village Teen Council

Supported Building Guidelines

Supported Livestreaming of Council Committee Meeting, City Council, and Planning Commission

Served on Environmental Committee, Teen Council, and Sister City Committee
